I Can’t Promise To Try: Brandon Juhasz

July 19, 2013 - September 7, 2013

Plug Projects’ newest exhibition, I Can’t Promise to Try introduces Kansas City to the work of Ohio-based artist Brandon Juhasz. Juhasz’s work seeks to dissect and understand the entrenched power of images and photography in our culture and the changing nature of the photographic image. Through the work in this exhibition, consisting of folded paper dioramas, created from photographs culled from the endless online database of images, Juhasz explores themes of failure and averageness. Brandon Juhasz states, “I find that photography is more a kin to folk art in its way of telling a unique and perhaps foggy and or interpreted filtered recollection of the truth. I see my work telling the stories of my time, uniquely and ambiguously enough to be both autobiographical and relatable.”

Brandon Juhasz is an artist living in Cleveland Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University. His work has been included in many juried and curated exhibitions both locally and nationally including the Hagedorn Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia for the Atlanta Celebrates Photography festival and MOCA Cleveland. He also was featured on the popular photography blogs Flakphoto,Lenscratch, as a contender in the 2011 edition of the international photo competition Hey Hot Shot and the recipient of the 2013 Creative Workforce Fellowship.
